“Resilient Ecosystems: Connecting Communities, Science and Systems in Complex Landscapes”
African wildlife and ecosystems face increasingly interconnected pressures — climate variability, habitat loss, land-use change, emerging disease, biodiversity loss and human–wildlife conflict. These challenges rarely occur in isolation: wildlife health, population declines and ecosystem disruption typically reflect a combination of ecological, disease and human factors. Responding effectively requires looking beyond individual species, diseases or disciplines to the systems and relationships that shape the resilience of landscapes. The WDA-AME Regional Conference 2027 provides a platform for this broader conversation. Abstract submission is now open and closes on 18th October 2026.

WDA-AME 2027 aims to shift the conversation from responding to individual wildlife health and conservation challenges, towards building landscapes, communities and systems better able to anticipate, withstand and adapt to them — exploring what resilient ecosystems can look like in practice, and what it will take to build them across Africa and the Middle East.
